About Scout and NetEngine

At Scout Talent Group, our purpose is to connect people to grow companies, careers and communities. Our company values are part of our DNA and guide our decision-making - you can learn about them here.

We’re a SaaS company offering recruitment / talent acquisition software. We’ve grown exponentially since our launch in 2009. Today our software products have over 7000 monthly users across more than 1000 organizations. More than 120,000 candidates apply for jobs with our subscribed clients, via our software products, each month. We have clients across Australia, Canada, and the US.

We’re a fast-growing recruitment technology company, on a path to IPO, and we’re only just getting started!

NetEngine is one of the brands that makes up Scout Talent Group. NetEngine is a software development house, building high-quality software products and apps for clients of all shapes and sizes. We create long-term partnerships with our clients and provide products with clear, effective user interfaces.

Our team members say that the best things about NetEngine is the collaborative environment, their ideas are listened to, and that they have the benefits and support of working for a well-established company (part of the wider Scout Talent Group). If you join us, you'll have daily stand-ups, retros, conferences, development and mentoring, and access to a range of resources and tools.

The Role

We are on the lookout for multiple Software Developers to join the team on a full time basis from our team in Milton, Brisbane!

The role will see you join our support squad where you will be primarily responsible for maintaining our existing codebase, as well as undertaking feature pieces of work to improve the codebase.

Some of the other key responsibilities in the role will include…

  • Writing and maintaining great code;
  • Architecting and maintaining applications;
  • Optimising app and server performance;
  • Integrating multiple systems into new and existing platforms; and
  • Working, collaborating and knowledge sharing with other Developers.

Not to mention, you'll always focus on delivering clean, beautiful code.

About You

We're looking for people who love working on an existing product collaboratively with their team, fixing bugs, and improving the performance of the system. As we are mostly a distributed team, a lot of communication happens asynchronously over Slack. You're someone who is comfortable switching off your notifications outside of work hours, but also able to assist occasionally when urgent deadlines arise.

The right person for this role could have a Front End, Back End or Full Stack background. Being able to set a goal and work with a team to achieve that is more important than the languages you can read and write!

Languages, concepts, tools and technologies we use and teach are:

  • Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with writing tests (i.e. Unit, Integration)
  • RSpec and Minitest
  • Agile methodology (we use Kanban)
  • ReactJS and TypeScript
  • Cypress
  • Docker (and Docker Compose)
  • Infrastructure as Code (specifically Terraform and/or CDK)
  • AWS (specifically ECS)
  • Jira
  • Github Actions (for CI/CD)

If the above sounds like you, submit an application and we’ll be in touch for a chat!

Package and Perks

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a remuneration package up to $100,000.

In addition, you’ll have access to a range of fantastic benefits, such as:

  • An organisational culture committed to ongoing learning. A dedicated internal L&D team offering real opportunities for ongoing skill development;
  • Support from our leaders in the business to ensure your success;
  • Option to work flexible hours to suit your lifestyle, including work from home options!
  • A culture of reward, recognition and celebration
  • We fly our interstate people to Brisbane for Quarterly awards celebrations to recognise our individual and team successes; and
  • A commitment to health and wellbeing (e.g. option to work flexible hours outside of the standard 8:30-5pm, mental health training, subsidised entry fees for events like the Bridge to Brisbane, and of course our own Healthy Workplaces).
